The Faculty of Health Sciences has three exciting opportunities for
Fieldwork Officers to join the team in 2 x full-time OR part-time permanent and 1 x full-time OR part-time fixed-term (until Dec 2024) roles.

In this role, you will coordinate the administrative requirements of the Faculty's fieldwork courses.

You will also work with academic course/unit coordinators with the management of placement allocations and timetabling, and liaise with students and fieldwork industry partners to resolve day-to-day operational issues associated with fieldwork.


As the
Fieldwork Officer, your previous experience with SONIA or similar software or database administration in a tertiary environment will be beneficial to your success in this position.


In this role you will, but not limited to:

  • Review and maintain data in the SONIA placement management software, including extracting and analysing data and compiling reports.
  • Manage verbal and written communication with fieldwork industry partners and students before, during and after completion of fieldwork.
  • Assist the Fieldwork Coordinator with the preparation, scheduling and coordination of timetabling of student placements.
  • Advise students regarding travel requirements for fieldwork placements.
  • Coordinate and organise workshops, training programs and seminars for students and staff and industry fieldwork partners.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice/guidance to internal and industry fieldwork partners regarding policies and procedures related to fieldwork placements.

Selection Criteria

  • A diploma qualification and considerable relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal with others sensitively and constructively and to develop and maintain effective professional working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Welldeveloped organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills with the ability to draft a range of correspondence and documentation which is clear and concise.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgment in the resolution of day to day issues arising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously with limited direction.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in the higher education sector in a student focussed role.
  • Previous experience working with SONIA placement system.
  • Experience with Student One information system.
