  • Salary at MOA Level 6 classification commencing at $99, % superannuation


The City of Unley is a vibrant and dynamic local council that provides a range of valued and diverse services to the surrounding community.

Based on the city fringe, less than 4 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, the City of Unley is well known for providing an exceptional customer experience for our community.


The Role


This role is a fixed term, full time position in the Economic Development and Strategic Projects team to coordinate and drive Council's business and economic programs, working with local businesses and main streets to drive economic prosperity and create the business environment to grow local jobs and attract new business to the region.


Duties include:


  • Coordinate and implement the delivery of actions from within Council's Economic Development Growth Strategy
  • Provide support to local businesses and Main Street Trader Associations.
  • Communicate and facilitate a program of training and networking events.
  • Maintain a contact database and regularly communicate key Council activities and projects, data insights, grants and general news to the business community.
  • Coordinate material and updates to the Council's Business Portal (website).
  • Provide recommendations on economic development and marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Promote and build capacity within the Council and the business community in business and economic development principles and practices.
  • Ensure projects, programs and initiatives comply with all legislative and funding agreement requirements.
  • Liaise with and develop ongoing relationships with Federal, State and other local agencies, industry bodies and the community to optimise outcomes for the City of Unley.
  • Ensure annual evaluation and reporting on services, projects and programs.

About You:


To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of business and economic development challenges and opportunities facing industry sectors and business within the City of Unley and South Australia more broadly.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Business Support Programs and Grants.
  • Knowledge of stakeholder engagement / community consultation methods and principles.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite of Applications, 365 and internet technologies.
  • Proficiency in creating effective communications including social media, enewsletters and website updates.
  • Capacity to influence others, engender cooperation and facilitate communication between various departments of Council, community groups, local businesses, funding bodies and other external partners; and
  • Exceptional customer experience and communication skills.
