Curtin's School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry (MCASI) is renowned for its unique, ground-breaking combinations of critical and creative research in the domains of digital futures, social justice, international relations, and cultural industries.

MCASI is one of three schools in the Faculty of Humanities.


We pursue collaborative, interdisciplinary and impactful research addressing shared societal challenges; deliver world-class transnational education, training and exchange programs to produce experts, entrepreneurs, leaders and global citizens; and develop meaningful partnerships with universities, governments, industries and communities to enhance Australia-Africa literacy and cooperation.


Your new role

As a Research Associate, you will:

  • Contribute expert research and analysis to support the design and implementation of the survey instrument.
  • Assist with analysis of the survey results.
  • Provide support for and undertake indepth interviews.
  • Ensure ethics requirements are met.[FF1]
  • Undertake literature reviews.
  • Assist with writing for publication when required.
  • Prepare progress reports.
  • Collate materials for conference presentations and workshops.

Essential Criteria:


  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, or 5 years' experience undertaking social research.
  • Experience in social science research including a range of methods and undertaking data analysis.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of the experiences of African Culture migrants in Australia.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to successfully manage project activities to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • The ability to foster meaningful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex material in clear and concise language and contribute to research reports and publications.
