About the Organisation:


Founded in 1930, The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia (GOCSA) is the oldest, largest and most active Greek social organisation in South Australia.


GOCSA supports a diverse range of services across Community (Philoptohos, Community Care Services, Home Care Packages, Aged Care, Community Centres, Seniors Group and Hall hire), Education (Greek Schools, Dance Academy), Community Churches and Events.


What you will be doing and will be responsible for:

Replacing a long-standing General Manager of 15 years, the leadership will now be split into two General Managers reporting to the President and Administrative Council.

This position will oversee the business operations, stakeholder management (including Board and Committees), financial, human resources, governance, property and planning for GOCSA and Camden Community.


Reporting into this position will be the Chief Finance Manager (with resources in Finance, Payroll, Administration as well as leading external HR and IT), Property (with resources in Maintenance) and Faith and Church (with resources in the Language School and Dance Academy).


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee daytoday operations across community and corporate services including property/maintenance, finance, faith and church to ensure the organisation runs smoothly and effectively.
  • Be the core conduit and ensure effective stakeholder management across board, government, community, internal and external relationships and partnerships.
  • Attend and ensure the implementation of actions from Administrative Council to ensure on track.
  • Ensure high levels of community engagement to ensure Members voices are represented and heard.
  • Lead the strategic and operational planning process for the next 5 years to ensure the continued stability, sustainability and growth.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting is in place against budgets, projects, audits and actions.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of the GOCSA's quality and corporate governance framework including ensuring compliance and all relevant policies and procedures are in place.
  • Lead internal and external communication.
  • Be the senior person to handle escalations and complex matters across divisions.
  • Oversee all services and partnership agreements to ensure legally compliant and highquality standards are in place.
  • Compliance monitoring and reporting against corporate and legislated requirements.
  • Lead the culture and people development processes.

'What you look like' and need to demonstrate to be successful:

  • Passion for the Greek community and wider multicultural community.
  • Prior leadership experience working in a community and/or membership organisation.
  • Exposure working within a notforprofit environment, particularly around governance requirements and working closely with a Board and Committees (viewed favourably).
  • Be a hands on, operational leader.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills (prior experience with government and relevant external bodies viewed favourably).
  • Qualifications in business administration, commerce, accounting, law, human resources management and/or other relevant field or equivalent.
  • High level of demonstrated knowledge, expertise, and experience with accounting and financial management, including developing appropriate systems and controls, budgeting processes, and performance monitoring.
  • Excellent understanding of the principles and practices of good governance.
  • A strong track record of professional integrity and ethical conduct.
  • The ability to speak Greek viewed favourably but not essential.
  • Must have a successful Working with Children, Vulnerable People and Police Check.
