About the role:

As the Team Leader for Protection Systems, you will provide protection systems design services for Powerlink through both internal and external design resources, and in accordance with Powerlink policies, procedures and requirements.

This is a great opportunity for an inspiring people leader to work with a dedicated protection systems design team, and contractors in the provision of protection systems design services for Powerlink.

You will be responsible for:

Resource planning and coordination to ensure timely protection systems design delivery and successful project outcomes.
Ensuring the protection systems design team members continue to develop their knowledge and skills to meet Powerlink's secondary systems design standards
Leadership of the protection systems design team including task assignment, performance monitoring, review, coaching, teamwork and training
Collaborating with secondary systems design Principal Engineers and other stakeholders involved in the secondary systems asset lifecycle to ensure successful design, project and strategic outcomes.
Supporting and influencing protection design standards and fitforpurpose technical solutions to achieve complex technical problem solving and smart systems and solutions.

About you:

To be successful in this position, you will need a degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering.

Ideally, you are a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), and will have demonstrated experience in leading and developing professional design staff who provide support services to large infrastructure projects.

Experience in projects in a High Voltage electrical infrastructure design environment will be highly regarded.

You will have demonstrated experience in:

Monitoring and ensuring consistent implementation of protection systems design standards, for both internal and outsourced designs.
Working within a complex technical environment and undertake complex problem solving to ensure optimal design outcomes are achieved.
Resource planning, work allocation and coordination for both internal and outsourced resources.
Ensuring team members continue to develop their knowledge and skills to meet Powerlink's secondary systems design standards.
Managing team performance by ensuring objectives are clearly understood, proactively addressing team member issues and concerns to achieve expected outcomes.
Key people management processes (recruitment, performance management, safety, etc) to effectively manage team member performance.
