We're looking for a Design Manager to join our Water group.

In
Western Australia , our
Water Business has a long-standing relationship with the Water sector and we strive to understand and deliver on our clients' needs.

The team works on a wide variety of projects including water designs for water authorities, as well as supporting projects for the broader national team.

We currently have an opportunity for a
Design Manager to lead the design integration and project management of water and wastewater infrastructure engineering design projects.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Technical:

Provide design leadership for multidisciplinary projects typically including water and wastewater transmission, distribution, conveyance and/or treatment civil infrastructure including pipelines of various materials and sizes, storage facilities, pump stations, treatment plants, etc.
Be accountable for engineering deliverables (Concept, Engineering and Detailed design deliverables, bid ready documentation, and procurement packages) on a wide range of water related design projects and meet or exceed client expectations by coordinating and leading the work of team members across multidisciplinary projects to deliver creative and robust solutions; maintaining progress by proactively resolving technical challenges; and seeking early client buyin to preferred options to minimise later changes and rework.
Track time and cost throughout projects and deliver to schedule and budget.
Assist with Business Development to secure new work by positioning for opportunities and assisting with or leading the preparation of proposals.

Clients:

Proactively establish, maintain and grow effective relationships with client Project Directors, Project Managers, Design Managers and others.
Foster a culture of service delivery excellence.
Take the time to understand clients' needs and tailor an approach to meet/exceed them.

People:

Build effective working relationships with other team members, team leaders, business group leaders, Market Leaders, business development leaders and support personnel.
Provide technical leadership in line with GHD's values, purpose, goals and objectives.
Oversee and facilitate knowledge sharing including mentoring junior team members.

What you will bring to the team

Suitable qualifications, ideally Bachelor of Engineering
Proven design management and project management skills and experience in delivering successful projects
Ability to nurture trusting client relationships with focus on the customer's experience
Solid experience in winning work
Ability to manage competing priorities in a professional and proactive manner
Proven ability to produce high quality designs and documentation within the Water infrastructure industry
Proven experience in building positive relationships both across the business and externally
Ability to manage and coordinate interfaces with various disciplines
