Who we are

Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other.

Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

SRL is more than a rail project.

It's a once-in-a-generation opportunity to plan for and prepare our city and state to meet the needs of future Victorians, and we can't do it alone.

We are on the lookout for people with drive, expertise, fresh ideas and new perspectives to deliver Victoria's biggest ever infrastructure project.

What we do

The Rail Operations team develops the vision and needs for operating and maintaining the Suburban Rail Loop railway and is a key function in facilitating the realisation of these needs through the planning, procurement, delivery, readiness, and operations and maintenance phases.

This includes aspects such as:

Operational performance targets and network configuration
Train service planning and operation
Asset management, maintenance and renewal
Station operation and passenger experience
Operational readiness

Who are we looking for?

We are currently extending an Expression of Interest to assist in recruiting fresh-thinking, innovative and high-performers with a genuine passion and interest for working in the Rail Operations Team.

contributing to shape the future of SRL for Victoria
These will commence in the second half of 2023 and include roles such as:

Rail Infrastructure Planning Manager
Rolling Stock Planning Manager
Station Operation and Passenger Experience Manager

Skills required:

Experience and achievement in the operation of railways particularly in areas such as:
Infrastructure assets and systems planning, maintenance and renewal
Rolling stock fleet planning, maintenance and renewal
Station and network operation
Customer service and passenger experience
The following will be highly regarded:
Practical experience in operation of modern and/or automated railways
Working knowledge of the Victorian rail network and major infrastructure projects
Ability to undertake technical investigations and provide concise recommendations and reports
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including excellent written skills with the ability to produce accurate and concise reports and briefs
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to convey complex and/or technical issues to a range of audiences, including nonexperts
Highly developed organisation skills, flexibility and the ability to balance priorities.
