The Role
Investment Portfolio Management Branch is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Project Support Officer. The position will support the Director Portfolio Performance Measurement with the enhancement and sustainment of the CapabilityOne System.


CapabilityOne is an Information Communication Technology (ICT) system that manages information related to the One Defence Capability System and the Defence Integrated Investment Program.

Under broad direction, the successful applicants will manage and lead work priorities and strategies to meet business outcomes through engagement with stakeholders across Defence.

The role is expected to support an environment that promotes creativity and innovation.

The following are the key duties for the role:

  • Provide operational support to project management and facilitate administrative and coordination requirements.
  • Accountable to lead the development and maintenance of project planning and processes in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards.
  • Research, draft and prepare briefs, complex correspondence and reports including submissions for committee consideration.
  • Procurement activities, including documentation, interviewing, and providing recommendations to senior executives.

About our Team

Investment Portfolio Management Branch supports the highest-level decision makers in Defence and government by providing independent analysis and advice to deliver a more capable Australian Defence Force (ADF).

We directly support the Vice Chief of the Defence Force in his role as Chair of the Investment Committee and we are an influential voice with the ability to shape and assure outcomes on the big investment decisions for the ADF.

CapabilityOne is used to produce reports and dashboards to inform decisions by users and senior executives.


As CapabilityOne enhances and continues to capture data, it will have the ability to produce a wider variety of data products with the intention to deliver advanced analytics in the future.
