The Company
CO2 Australia is a wholly Australian-owned environmental consultancy offering a range of environmental services, including carbon emissions reduction projects, carbon and biodiversity offsets, ecological assessments, monitoring and rehabilitation, environmental approvals, and integrated land management.
The Role
CO2 Australia manages a carbon sequestration estate of nearly 30,000 ha across Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland.
The Operations Project Officer will play an exciting role in assisting CO2 Australia in the delivery of on-ground revegetation and maintenance works.
The revegetation work will include seedling inspections, tree planting supervision, mapping, weed and pest control monitoring, monitoring and maintenance of the plantation estate and associated infrastructure, logistics and support for the Operations Manager.
About You
With an ever-growing demand for carbon emissions reduction projects the team is now looking to bring onboard two new team members, one based in Brisbane and the other in Wagga Wagga.
You will enjoy working in a smaller organisation and rolling up your sleeves to contribute to the team and broader organisation as required.
Required Skills and Proficiencies include:
- Background knowledge of and previous experience in the agricultural, natural resource management or environmental industry is not compulsory but will be highly regarded.
- Ability to quickly grasp and understand technical concepts, procedures, and instructions.
- Experience in detailed logistics and project planning for multiple field based/operations style projects simultaneously.
- Proven experience with sourcing and supervising subcontractors.
- Ongoing ability to conduct field work and travel on a weekly basis including overnight stays (minimum of 3 nights per week Monday to Friday) and occasional longer periods.
- Recent experience working autonomously and occasionally in remote locations including demonstrated understanding of safe field and operational work, JSA's and working with chemicals.
- Undertake broadacre and spot spraying operations and be accredited or willing to obtain accreditation.
- Ability to care and safely operate, (including changing tyres) of fourwheeldrive and utility terrain vehicles.
- Ability to undertake minor maintenance repairs including fencing type works.
- Prior experience and or interest to undertake accreditation to fly unmanned aerial vehicles.
- Operate geographical positioning systems or can quickly learn these skills.
