THE POSITION


We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant Educator who has a genuine passion for child-centred learning and a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework.

This is a part-time position, 2 days per week until the end of the year.


You will be working in our new refurbished Early Learning Centre where there is a genuine connection to nature with large green spaces providing plenty of room for play and exploration.


The Early Childhood Assistant Educator is responsible to the Deputy Head of Primary - Early Learning, but ultimately is responsible to the Head of Primary.

All staff are employed by the Principal.


All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school for girls from 15m-Yr12.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with the implementation of the Early Childhood Program.
  • Engaging and working alongside children to support their learning.
  • Work with individuals and groups of children to support their learning.
  • At times, take a whole group session e.g. reading a story and supervise transitions.
  • Help prepare provocations/ learning experiences.
  • Help maintain the learning environment, resources and equipment.
  • Understanding and working according to the Early Learning Centre Policies
  • Work in partnership with children and families to support learning outcomes
  • Complete light cleaning duties as required.
  • Assist with administration duties as required.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all children in their care.
  • Engage in professional discussions about the learning program and continuous improvement.
  • Awareness of the regulations associated with the early education and care industry
  • Awareness of planning for children's learning experiences through the EYLF
  • Ability to document learning observations and critical reflections
  • Other duties may be assigned by teachers or the leadership team.

  • Knowledge of inquiry based learning an advantage.

CERTIFICATES, QUALIFICATIONS REGISTRATIONS

  • Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent
  • Working with Children Suitability Card is essential.
  • A current first aid certificate is desirable.
  • Current Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates are desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The Early Learning Centre has a staff work space and lunchroom.
  • This role can require a high level of physical activity and requires a physically capable individual.
  • On occasion there will be a need to lift a child (approx weight 15kg)
  • Excellent auditory and visual capacity is required because of child safety.

CONDITIONS AND SALARY

  • The role is classified as Childcare Staff Grade 3 under the Moreton Bay Enterprise Agreement.
  • Sick Leave entitlement of 10 days annually.
  • Long Service Leave entitlement of 1.3 weeks for each year of service which can be taken after 7 years.
  • The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee as per the Moreton Bay Enterprise Agreement.
