Network Planning & Scheduling Officer
We have an exciting position for the right incumbent to join as a Network Planning & Scheduling Officer.

This position will be a part of the Network Planning team in planning an integrated multi-modal network, implementing complex bus routes, and formulating and reviewing bus schedules for the Greater Sydney Region Bus Contract.


This is an exciting opportunity for those with strong mathematical, planning/geography, and logistics backgrounds to kickstart their career or for an experienced Network Planner looking to challenge their skills in the busiest bus network in Australia.


About the role:


  • In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Schedule Planning: Collaborate with the scheduling team to develop and maintain accurate bus schedules, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources and adherence to operational requirements.
  • Route Planning: Assist in designing efficient and effective bus routes, considering factors such as passenger demand, traffic patterns, and operational constraints.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse historical data, ridership patterns, and feedback to identify opportunities for route optimisation and service improvements.
  • Timetable Management: Maintain and update bus timetables, ensuring accuracy and timely communication of any changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with various internal departments, including operations, maintenance, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of planned schedules and routes.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulation requirements, Fatigue Management framework, and company policies during the planning and implementation process.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with various stakeholders to address scheduling or routing issues to provide prompt and efficient support.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives by providing insights and suggestions to enhance schedules and route planning efficiency.

About you:


  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders and build positive working relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse data to make informed decisions.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm to ensure continuous improvement in the design and development of train services and staff scheduling.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Eastern Suburbs bus routes is a plus.

Qualifications:


  • Tertiary qualification in transport, logistics, mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Hold a valid or ability to obtain TLIF Administer a fatigue risk management system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Office
  • Knowledge of local transportation regulations, traffic patterns, and public transit operations is advantageous.
  • Experience using roster systems such as HASTUS or VDS is an advantage.
