The
IT Area Lead for Payments Domain plays a pivotal role within the technology department of ING Australia, reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise & Transformation Programs.

This leadership position encompasses the oversight and management of the end-to-end payments lifecycle, from initiation to settlement, across diverse channels and platforms.

As a key member of the extended technology leadership team, the IT Area Lead is entrusted with managing change and run teams across multiple domains and overseeing complex projects with moderate to high impact.


In this dynamic role, the IT Area Lead is required to be capable of long-term strategic planning and work collaboratively with their business counterpart (Tribe Leads) to develop and execute a technology strategy and roadmap that is aligned with overarching business goals.

We are looking for a leader looking to bring their strategic vision to life, leverage cutting-edge tooling and platforms to enhance reliability, speed, security and shape the future of Australia's digital payments landscape.

They are effective in managing various stakeholders at different levels including EXCO members and will assist the Head of Technology in managing partnerships both within the organisation as well as with external vendors.


This role requires an accomplished technology leader to make a significant impact within ING, shaping the future of digital banking and driving technological innovation across the organization.


What you'll do...

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Technology strategy for the Payments Domain.
  • Create technology roadmaps and strategic plans that outline key initiatives, milestones, and resource requirements to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance issues within the technology environment.
  • Collaborate with business units and stakeholders to prioritize and sequence technology projects.
  • Drive strategic workforce planning to ensure that there are the right structures in place.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and strategic partners to ensure alignment with business objectives and delivery of highquality products and services.

What we're looking for...

  • Senior managerial experience in planning, managing, and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Strong understanding of the Finance Industry with 3+ years' experience leading Payment system management and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience providing expert competence with 1015 years of experience in technology. Preferably with retail banking and finance industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a technical delivery team with equivalent scale, scope and complexity within the Payments domain.
  • Experienced People Leader with track record of developing engineering capability and effectiveness in a team.
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills. Change & Stakeholder management at Executive (C Level).
