The Department

Within SBS, the Audio and Language Content department comprises over 60 language teams engaging audiences in discussions on local and global news, connecting communities through storytelling, and providing settlement information.

The Role

The Executive Producer position, reporting to the Program Manager, is responsible for leading the editorial strategy of the Japanese language team. This role involves managing the team, overseeing content production, and delivering innovative multi-platform content.

This role is available in Sydney or Melbourne.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with exceptional communication skills and experience in team management, journalism, and media broadcasting. You should have:

• Proven expertise in broadcast journalism, including producing and presenting content across various platforms (radio, online, social media), as well as writing, compiling, and presenting news, sports, and current affairs.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese, with a focus on clear broadcasting delivery. Candidates will undergo a language assessment to demonstrate proficiency in Japanese.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and digital audio editing software.
• Strong administrative capabilities, including accuracy, numeracy, organizational skills, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and solve problems effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound understanding of the Japanese-speaking community in Australia.
• Proven ability to maintain relationships with various stakeholders.

Candidates for this role must be fully vaccinated with an approved Covid-19 vaccine, following ATAGI guidelines, including booster shots. Medical exemptions are considered.

Additionally, applicants must have unrestricted work rights in Australia and the flexibility to work from either Sydney or Melbourne studios.
