Are you a passionate teacher looking for a unique opportunity to work with Indigenous Communities in the Northern Territory?_


Swinburne welcomes applicants for the role of sessional teacher to travel out to remote areas in East and West Arnhem Land, delivering short skills sets ranging between 1 to 4 weeks throughout the year.

Working within the Northern Australia Programs team, you will teach short accredited and non-accredited courses across eight Communities.

You will work closely with our Indigenous partner organisations to collaborate, plan, and deliver units of competency while linking in with meaningful projects to benefit the Communities.

You will customise your teaching methods to meet the needs of the cohort, reflective of your understanding of engaging and working with students with low language, literacy, and numeracy.

Your passion to positively impact students will encourage them to seek ongoing education and training.


Course Areas
We are looking for trainers in the following disciplines
-
Trades: Carpentry, Welding, Fencing, Painting, and Landscaping.

Business: Computing, Digital Media, Customer Service.
-
Health: Community Services, Allied Health.


About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and balance a variety of teaching resources to achieve outcomes
  • Experience working within a student cohort with low LLN or ESL
  • Ability to plan, and to flexibly adjust plans to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel interstate across various isolated areas
  • Flexibility around variable travel times

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment/Diploma or higherlevel qualification in adult education
  • Vocational experience and qualifications in any of the following: Chainsaw, Small Motor Maintenance, White Card, First Aid, Welding, Carpentry & Woodwork, Concreting, Horticulture, Landscaping, Pest and Weed Control, Fencing, Painting, Business, Community Services, and Allied Health.
  • Experience assessing in Vocational Education
