About the opportunity
The Public Relations Advisor (12 Month Contract) is part of the team that carries responsibility for protecting and enhancing Australia Post's reputation and its social licence to operate, which is achieved through delivery of Australia Post's communications strategy.
To ensure the Corporation's economic and strategic value is better understood and appreciated by key stakeholders and contribute to Team decisions.
The Public Relations Advisor will support in managing the positive pipeline of news stories from across the enterprise and amplify these across a number of existing and new channels.
You will build effective relationships at all levels of the business and develop a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder audiences.
You'll be responsible for:
- Managing the positive pipeline of news stories from across the enterprise and amplify these across a number of existing and new channels with the goal to build AP's positive reputation
- Supporting the PR team in maintaining the calendar of yearly PR activity across the enterprise
- Working closely with the BU Communications Partners to identify PR opportunities
- Executing the PR communication plans in line with best practice
- Accountability for supporting the PR Manager on the distribution of daily updates to the business of media coverage, where an issue arises early identification and notification is required
- Working closely with CMO Social team to create and deliver a cohesive social strategy
- Maintaining positive working relationships with PR agencies
- Proactively maintain Media contact lists and biographies
- Supporting the work in focusing on measurement of the impact and sentiment of media campaigns
- Actively participate in enterprisewide programs of work and campaigns
About you
You are an excellent storyteller with strong writing skills. You understand how the media work and know what makes a good news story. You work well individually but also enjoy working on fast paced projects as part of a broader team. You have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to adapt when things need to change quickly.
What are we looking for?
- 3+ years' experience in Public Relations within a large, complex and highly regulated organisation
- Some experience in media measurement
- Capability to rapidly be knowledgeable about the sociopolitical environments in the markets in which the Australia Post operates
- Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community sociopolitical environment
- Experience in maintaining databases
