The Opportunity


Due to client demand, we are currently on the search for a Lead Cost Manager to join the business to work on an exciting renewables project based in Sydney.

This role will suit you if you have excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Provide cost control across complex projects with multiple stakeholder interests and interdependencies, raising standards and driving improvements in accounting management, in adherence with financial standards and delegations, in tracking variations, and in risk management.
  • Provide expert financial and cost controls advice in relation to contract management, including the management of variations, contractor certificates of currency, and invoice disputes on a regular /ad hoc basis.
  • Periodically participate in program wide effort to analyse systems, processes, and procedures to support the continuous improvement of project management, operations, processes, and policy.
  • Provide expert advice and support to the Project Controls Director in carrying out their duties.
  • Providing regular updates on key projects and programs, issues, and priorities.
  • Contribute to planning, policy development and decision making.

Skills and Experience


The incumbent will be responsible for managing a team of Cost Managers and is expected to have demonstrate implementation of best practice.


  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, finance, or related fields from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Proven experience in the development and delivery of government, infrastructure and/or major projects.
  • The ability to make complex judgements on the best strategies to maximise preparedness for future requirements and consistently communicating that all decisions can affect the three critical outcomes of customer service, safety, and cost effectiveness.
  • Confidence to adapt to a dynamic work environment as it evolves and progresses through substantial change.
  • Experience leading, inspiring and motivating the team whilst providing direction, and managing performance.
  • Experience working in Renewables, Mining, Water, or similar industries would be highly regarded.
