Duties include:******:

Participate in the maintenance of laboratory insect colonies adhering to established protocols.
***:
-
Assist senior technicians with the preparation and execution of bioassay experiments using chemical fumigants and insecticides.
***:

Operate laboratory instruments and equipment in relation to determining the efficacy of fumigants and insecticides for various research projects.
***:

Collect and maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures. Participate in the collection of experimental data and communicate findings to Senior Research Officers.

Actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team, building effective working relationships with project team members and departmental staff.

Skills and Capabilities:******:
-
A diploma (or degree) in Agricultural or Applied Science or a similar field relevant to the position from a recognised tertiary institution.

A valid 'C' class driver license.
***:
-
Functional and technical knowledge, skills, and experience in the area of entomology research, including bioassay experiments and the maintenance of insect colonies.

Knowledge in the area of chemistry and the use of chemical insecticides.
***:
-
Practical experience in molecular biology (e.g. DNA extractions, PCR) is not mandatory but would be considered an advantage.
