Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the general selection criteria, demonstrated capacity to lead transformational pedagogies that promote the use of effective evidence-based teaching practices and create a school culture focused on continually learning how to improve teacher effectiveness and student learnership and agility.


Proven capacity to lead, motivate, coach, and enthuse teachers and Middle Leaders in their ongoing professional practice to transform classrooms into learning spaces where every student has the capacity and confidence to learn successfully.


Demonstrated high ability to support and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including beginning teachers, in designing and embedding innovative practices to address the Literacy, Numeracy, and High Potential and Gifted needs of our diverse learners.


Experience and demonstrated achievement in the successful development and implementation of a professional learning program to identify whole school teaching and learning patterns and align these with champion educators to improve school's performance within the current educational reforms and the school's strategic directions.


A progressive member of the leadership team with demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in consulting, negotiating, and liaising with the school's key stakeholders and the wider educational community.


General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
