To build a more agile and resilient Supply Chain the commoditized execution and digitalization of processes is a key focus whilst driving operational excellence.
An exciting opportunity exists within our Supply Chain function on a permanent basis at our Brisbane Corporate Office.

The Category Specialist is responsible for developing relevant category strategies, support input to business cases, plans to ensure security of supply, the advancement of supplier partnering that drives innovation and value, compile and execute sourcing events, support negotiations, and establish and execute contracts.


Key accountabilities of the Category Specialist include:

  • Support the development of the broader category portfolio strategy, value creation plans and business cases by providing relevant data, analysis, opportunity assessments and market intelligence
  • Develop and manage relationships with strategic suppliers, to drive step change in value and deliver innovative solutions that position Anglo American as a partner of choice
  • Participate in negotiations with finalising GFAs (General Framework Agreements) and related Contract Amendments
  • Plan, schedule, resource and execute activities relating to relevant contracts in category portfolio
  • Accountable for the contract over its lifecycle and ensure contract administration and performance management activities are executed timely and with quality
  • Manage the implementation of bespoke agreements that outline innovation, joint development, technical, commercial, relationship and performance expectations
  • Monitor category/contract/supplier performance and intervene/escalate proactively where required
  • Ensure compliance to internal Anglo American and Supply Chain Governance requirements for all team members and pertaining to all Category Management activities

Qualifications:


  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline including Engineering, Business, or Law

Experience

  • Specialist experience within a Categories Team or relevant Supply Chain role
  • Category Management, Sourcing & Contracting with Total Cost Ownership approach
  • Good commercial, negotiation and dealmaking, business case development, and investment appraisal skills
  • Experienced stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and consult across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite with previous experience using SAP ERP and ARIBA systems
