How you'll make an impact


You'll play a key role in working closely with the Legal Operations Director to build processes to ensure the wider legal team is constantly innovating and improving its efficiency and operational excellence.

This role will also be required to liaise with key stakeholders within the legal team and the wider business to ensure Xero's legal function is well supported and set up for success.


What you'll do:


  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Legal Operations Director
  • Work closely with the Legal Operations Director to plan a cohesive framework of regular and meaningful meetings for the legal team (full team and functions/groups), and book and coordinate those meetings
  • Support the Legal Operations Director in planning the agenda for team virtual meetups and any inperson meetups for the legal team, and coordinate logistics for these meetings
  • Work with the Legal Operations Director and the finance team business partner in ensuring robust procedures are in place for raising purchase orders, processing invoices, monitoring expenditure and tracking budget
  • Contribute to the half year and full year accrual and closeout processes for the wider legal team alongside key stakeholders
  • Coordinate billing with law firms and track outside counsel spend
  • Coordinate onboarding of new team members, including strengths testing, and support the team in ensuring every team member has a welcome and seamless onboarding experience
  • Ensure key operational documents are kept up to date, including those that support onboarding of new team members such as the legal team induction documents, the legal team charter, team structure, etc.
  • Support the Legal Operations Director and the wider legal team in planning, coordinating and tracking legal team OKRs/goals
  • Support the Legal Operations Director and the wider legal team in legal team transformation projects
  • Support the wider legal team in building out and maintaining knowledge management repository and process
  • Support the Legal Operations Director in executing the operations strategy for the legal team, including supporting adoption of replicable and scalable processes for the team, supporting the adoption of new ways of working, and improving operational efficiencies
  • Work closely with the Legal Operations Director to support adoption and consistent use of tools including evaluating, implementing and managing legal team tech stack
  • Ensure key communications and messages on operational matters are relayed to the legal team in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the Legal Operations Director to develop, implement, and facilitate team training opportunities on team processes, tools, etc.
  • Form strong connections across the wider legal team, and provide support to the team in achieving best practice in legal operations including supporting change management processes

Success looks like:


  • Legal team's yearly OKRs/goals defined with regular progress tracking and adjustments as needed to drive prioritised deliverables to completion
  • Strong relationships developed and maintained across the legal team
  • Legal team's processes are well documented, streamlined and costeffective

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience not essential but highly regarded
