Who are we looking for?
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Development Manager to join Advancement Office, Business Development Portfolio, Chancellery Division.


The Development Manager, engages with industry and liaises at all levels of the University to secure donations for priority giving areas.

The role will focus on leveraging current relationships and building a pipeline of new prospects and opportunities to build sustainable and meaningful partnerships that create shared value.

Working closely with other members of the Advancement team, the Business Development Portfolio the academic and university professional staff, the incumbent will be instrumental in fostering partnerships that facilitate major gift fundraising at QUT.

This position reports to the Development Manager (Corporate) for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development.

The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.


About the Business Development Portfolio
The Business Development Portfolio provides university-wide coordination and stewardship of QUT's engagement with industry, philanthropic and alumni communities.

Led by the Vice-President (Business Development), the following areas fall within the Portfolio's responsibility:


  • Office of the Vice-President (Business Development);
  • Industry Engagement;
  • Advancement; and
  • Alumni, Venues and Events.

What you need to succeed

You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience to completion of a postgraduate degree with relevant experience in fundraising, business development or similar.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding income targets from effective fundraising or business development activities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and facilitation competencies to represent QUT across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Awareness of cultural sensitivities and confidentiality and how to navigate these appropriately, while still achieving desired outcomes
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, with the ability to review and evaluate performance against objectives.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills in order to prepare fundraising proposals, write fundraising agreements, design plans, prepare reports, presentations and correspondence.
