  • Anglo American Steelmaking Coal**Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blastfurnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description:


  • The Finance Projects Specialist role is responsible for delivering and supporting business improvement projects that change how Finance services the business to better act as a strategic commercial partner and raise the bar in terms of how we manage our governance risk and controls
This role will be rewarding, varied and will include:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of phases of work / discrete project activities / projects
  • Definition & scoping of problems/projects to be solved what's the work and how will we do it
  • Design solutions including validating / testing with users in workshops / interviews resulting in time / cost savings
  • Analyse & synthesise insights for presentations to Leaders &/or document these into detailed business requirements from workshops / interviews with customers / stakeholders
  • Assist with scoping vendor services for approval, onboarding & manage / supervise daytoday
  • Responsible for defining work activities, developing plans and allocating work to stakeholders that do not have a direct reporting line
  • Maintain up to date / accurate project budgets and forecasts
  • Develop and deliver change mgmt. plans, communications plans, conducting and training needs analysis
  • Provide support in programme / project governance & aide decisionmaking at Steering Committees
  • Preempt risks & issues, identify mitigations; monitor / escalate when required by maintaining risks & issues logs.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting or a related field preferred
  • Project Management Certifications (PMBOK | PMI or other recognised) preferred
  • Advanced in using project management methodologies agile / hybrid / waterfall
  • Demonstrated experience across all phases of the project lifecycle and workstreams including process, change, strategy, governance and systems & data testing, training and rollout of processes / systems; ensure hypercare and post implementation support
  • Finance & Accounting process knowledge preferred
  • Ability to synthesise key findings convert into useable insights; 'sowhat's to leaders to aide decisionmaking
  • Advanced Business Analysis & Consulting skills to Interview customers / stakeholders to define problems; facilitating workshops / working sessions to validate / test finding documenting these into business requirements & presentations
  • Experienced in designing systems of work processes & org design with a lean approach
  • Competent / advanced knowledge in reporting and data solutions: Reporting & dashboard solutions (PowerBI etc); Data model, data migration, data integration;
  • Advanced experience with project schedule / work management tools (eg. Smartsheets, Dev Ops, Jirra)
  • Very high attention to detail, with an ability to process and analyse high volumes of data, essential
