The Tasmanian Health Service and Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking interest from suitably qualified FACEM applicants for multiple vacancies of Staff Specialist - Emergency Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.

The Emergency Department has direct access to all medical and surgical specialities and has approximately 75,000 presentations per year. The Department has more than 250 staff, consisting of medical, nursing, allied health, clerical, aides, and orderlies.


The Emergency Department is staffed by specialists, registrars, nurses, and clinical support staff who work together as a dynamic team with strong focus on collegiality.


The Role

  • Patient Care
  • Medical care of ED patients.
  • Undertake procedures as required in ED.
  • Participate in after hours on call roster.
  • Teaching
  • Undertake undergraduate clinical teaching at RHH.
  • Provide supervision and training of post graduate trainees.
  • Research
  • Maintain involvement in research activities.
  • Administrative and Quality Improvement
  • Provide administrative and quality improvement functions for units as required.
  • Work closely with corresponding nursing staff and support staff in the ED.
  • Participation in disaster preparedness planning.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.

Salary

  • Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award_


A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.


Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 pro rata per annum.
  • Relocation allowance.
  • On call allowance % of Base Salary.
  • All other allowances as per current Award.

Other Benefits:


  • You will have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
  • You will also have access to accommodation and relocation costs.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term full-time and part-time positions available. Day work (with on-call) work pattern, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
