An exciting and newly created key role in Sydney managing Combat System maintenance services.

The role

As part of our Maritime group, the Regional Maintenance Lead

coordinates key maintenance services in support of the Combat System elements for the RAN Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) class


The role includes:

  • Overall responsibility for local Maintenance support and planning
  • Ensuring adherence to technical regulation of maintenance
  • Maintenance administration and reporting
  • Ensuring effective delivery of contracted maintenance services


The role will be primarily responsible to support the AOR vessels and associated land based test sites, liaising with key stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective outcomes.


The role includes:

  • Working within the Saab AOR support services team to provide oversight of maintenance activities
  • Coordinate planned and corrective maintenance activities
  • Undertake initial combat system fault diagnosis in support of ships staff
  • Participate in URDEF investigations and other tasking responses
  • Review technical documentation such as reports, system and subsystem specifications
  • Review and maintain technical documentation
  • Production of Maintenance reporting artefacts


The role will be responsible to support the AOR vessels, and associated land based test sites, liaising with key stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective outcomes.


  • Significant knowledge and experience of Naval Combat Systems equipment including sensors and weapons
  • Minimum 5 years defence/industry experience in a similar engineering maintenance environment, supporting medium subsystems or groups of smaller subsystems and/or equipment
  • Significant experience interfacing with shipyard staff and contractors
  • Proven ability to problem solve complex technical issues
  • Proven ability to report on complex technical issues and negotiate ship schedules with all levels of staff from production staff through to management
About you

Your skills and experience will include:
Experience working with 9LV CMS and related processes (preferred)

Previous experience working with Combat Systems and related processes

Ability to work independently

Familiarity with ISO 9001:
requirements and practices

Working at Heights Certified

Construction Industry White Card

Minimum Certificate III in Electronics and Communications (or related discipline)


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
