Position Summary

The Data Governance and Integration Group (DGIG) core functions include: leading the development of the

Institute's strategies for acquiring, managing and integrating major data assets, and carrying out record

linkage of data sets relating to health and community services.

The NIHSI/NHDH Unit, within DGIG, manages the National Integrated Health Services Information (NIHSI)

asset, soon to be renamed the National Health Data Hub (NHDH). The NIHSI comprises data on admitted

patient care services (in public and private hospitals), emergency department services and outpatient

services in public hospitals for all states and territories with the exception of Western Australia and the

Northern Territory.

The NIHSI also includes data from the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme

(PBS), Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS), Residential Aged Care services data, National

Death Index (NDI). Researchers can use the asset to explore issues such as validation of the current

treatment pathways for chronic disease management and care.

Support Manager roles.


Under general direction you will:

  • Undertake key project work, including task prioritisation, collaborating with other team members and
delivering outputs in accordance to milestone and quality expectations

  • Maintain record management for data linkage projects
  • Ensure project data and outputs maintain confidentiality and adhere to approvals
use

  • Lead and complete output vetting tasks of aggregated outputs requested for release from secure
access environments

  • Raise quotes and invoices
  • Manage user access to the secure access environments
  • Undertake testing of data to ensure approved data design is met before product releases of the
linked asset

  • Lead areas for improvement of the linked asset including expansion of data, reporting and overall
ease of use of the linked asset.

Selection Criteria

Important


  • Demonstrated capacity to manipulate, interrogate and validate data sets using a range of software
such as Excel, SAS, R, Python or SQL.


  • Demostrated communication skills including the ability to communicate with a range of internal and
external stakeholders


  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise one's workload and escalate
issues when required


  • Good project administration experience, including the ability to maintain accurate documentation
and records


  • Good attention to detail and data checking skills
