About the Opportunity:

The ANSTO Library is Australia's most comprehensive scientific centre for nuclear information.

The library collection is a much-valued national resource that supports the scientific, research, commercial and educational activities of ANSTO, which make a significant contribution to the organisation's reputation and impact.

The Collection Development Librarian represents ANSTO as the CAUL Content Coordinator and plays an important role in driving the Library Subscription processing and oversight to facilitate compliance with licence conditions.

This also involves leveraging the existing subscription spend to facilitate open access publishing for ANSTO and our collaborators through CAUL, and other international bodies as we transition to government funded research being available to all Australians.


About You:

- "You have practical experience in the day to day operation of a library, alongside of your experience as a Collection Development Librarian with excellent communication skills and sound business acumen and understanding of hard sciences"._

Key Accountabilities:


  • Manage collection development of library resources to support the strategic research direction of ANSTO.
  • Contribute actively to CAUL as the CAUL Content Coordinator for the ANSTO Library and develop professional networks with industry bodies and vendors consistent with industry best practice and those articulated by CAUL.
  • Identify and select for acquisition new and relevant information resources for the collection, make decisions in relation to procurement and management of scholarly content for ANSTO Library, and update the ANSTO Library Collection Development Policy as required.
  • Monitor expenditure on collection resources and assist the Knowledge Centre Manager in Library budget preparation for electronic resources and monographs, to ensure expenditure is maintained within allocation.
