What is the role?


Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader - Payroll Services.


AFP are seeking a Team Leader We are searching for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have demonstrated experience leading busy and diverse teams.


You will be responsible for leading and managing your team in the delivery of effective and efficient processing of AFP payroll in accordance with legislative requirements.

You should enjoy engaging with people to create a positive working environment and to build effective working relationships.

You will embrace new ideas, value diversity and make sound business decisions to deliver an effective and efficient service. Your demonstrated understanding of Payroll processing and the applicable legislative framework will support your transition into this role.


As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual.

Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?


Payroll Services Team Leaders guide and manage resources responsible for assisting AFP business through the provision of a variety of administrative and financial functions/tasks.

We are looking for leaders who have relevant experience and a strong interest in:
developing plans and ensuring all resources are effectively directed at achieving business area outputs
developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role
creating and contributing to a positive team culture
bringing new and innovative ideas to the Payroll space
implementing leading edge technology utilising effective change management practice
providing verbal and written advice (including Executive Briefs) to stakeholders
undertaking project and research work
building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships
Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
You must have a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
You should have contemporary Payroll, Human Resources, Corporate and/or Finance experience.
You should have demonstrated leadership experience.
