Transitional Housing Case Worker

  • Full time 38 hours per week
  • Colac Area Health is a values based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.
  • The Transitional Housing Support Worker provides Case Management support to families, couples and individuals who are experiencing Homelessness or who are at risk of Homelessness.
  • The aim of the role is to provide transitional accommodation in partnership with the Salvation Army and DFFH, for a period of time in which the worker can utilise a range of interventions to enhance peoples choice and control and emotional wellbeing, address the underlying issues relating to their homelessness and assist the client to develop self empowerment and achieve clients stated goals.

What's required?

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Welfare Studies or other related areas.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian Homelessness Service System and issues relating to homelessness and the impact of homelessness on adults and children.
  • Experience and Skills in providing support and casework to families and children using a variety of intervention skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate comfortably with people from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide flexible, confidential and responsive support in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Expertise in areas of Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs, Disability or Family Violence.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal skills and computer literacy.
  • Willingness to participate in further training and professional development.
  • Currently Driver's License, Working with Children's Check, Police Check and Immunisations in line with Hospital Policy.
  • Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act (1997)
