Marymead CatholicCare is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Therapeutic Youth Workers to support our youth residential program - Safe and Connected Youth (SACY): Supporting young people years of age) Through Early intervention and Prevention Strategies.

The Role


The SACY Therapeutic Youth Worker provides quality support to young People residing at the service with a focused and strength-based approach including; Engage with young people and family members in line with the program's Principles, ensuring a constructive environment where positive change can be facilitated.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to;
support and guide all young people while on shift;
Develop and facilitate activities for young people that will enhance their living skills and help them achieve their goals;
Maintain contact with young people's parents/carers;
Act as Key Worker with assigned young people by working with Young People, the Counsellor and Team Leader to determine their goals;
Advocating for the young people, as required;
Conducting weekly case work sessions;
Maintaining regular contact with their parents;
Organise celebrations, positive records, and marking rites of passage for young people as per the Ruby's Service Model.


The aim of this role is to build resilience and coping strategies in dealing with complexity of issues faced by our young people.

Support the young people and their families through early intervention, collaborative engagement, service coordination, information/education, short term therapeutic interventions, referral and advocacy.

This position requires effective time management, stakeholder engagement and administration skills and the commitment to maintain the residence at all times as an environment that is supportive to young people and conducive to the reconciliation of young people and their families.

This role will require you will be required to work with mínimal supervision, as well as working effectively within a large team to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Ideal person


The ideal person we are looking for has:
Tertiary qualification(s) in a related field, i.e., Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, etc.;
Minimum qualification requirements are Certificate / Diploma level in a related field and/or at least 3 years' experience in working with complex young people and/or families;
Certificate IV in Youth Work or the equivalent;
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, organisational time management skills;
Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations and to clients experiencing complex issues;
Competent in the use of Information Technology.

All employees and volunteers are required to undergo a National Police Check.

To be considered for this role you will be also required to hold:
a current driver's licence, and
a Working with Vulnerable People Card
