This is an exciting time within the Health, Safety and Wellbeing at Swinburne University and as such we are looking for an experience Manager, Health & Safety to join the team.


As the Manager, Health & Safety you will be responsible for managing the provision of workplace health & safety, emergency management and injury management services to managers and staff within the university across a broad range of health and safety issues and lead the respective teams.


This position will also see the incumbent responsible for developing the university wide Safety Management System and oversee its implementation providing a positive user experience and enabling the university to meet its legal obligations.

The position will lead major improvement projects to meet strategic risk management objectives.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • An in-depth knowledge and practical understanding of H&S legislation, compliance codes and strategies for their successful deployment across the University.
  • Proven people management experience, including the ability to develop, manage and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and provide professional advice across a range of H&S issues.
  • Proven capacity to consult effectively on workplace risk assessments and development of practical resolution strategies.
  • Ability to develop and implement a Safety Management System.

Qualifications
Postgraduate degree in occupational health and safety or related discipline along with extensive relevant experience.
