The Opportunity:


The Murdoch Children's Research Institute (Institute) is committed to create a scalable and sustainable data ecosystem to accelerate research outputs and provide the evidence base to improve clinical care.

Our research is increasingly data-rich, with the volume, variety and velocity of data being generated requiring structured data governance and sophisticated analytics to ensure maximise translational impact and data sharing.


The Education Lead will implement a range of solutions, in a variety of media, to support researchers in the successful implementation of data management and data governance strategies across the Institute.

The focus will initially be on ensuring compliance, with a longer-term aim of supporting professional development of Institute staff. The ultimate goal is a significant level of maturity in data literacy across the Institute.


Located within the Data Office, the successful applicant will be a key partner in the successful uptake of Data Office standards and tools.


In this newly created role, you will:

  • serve as a conduit between researchers and the Data Office for educational purposes
- provide solutions that increase the uptake of data management and data governance strategies
- support the Data Office in working with
- researchers' adoption of best practice in data management and data governance

The Education Lead will work closely with several departments across the Institute, who offer educational programs and content.

There will also be a partnership with the broader Children's Campus, comprising the Institute, the Royal Children's Hospital and University of Melbourne.

You will also have access to the support of an advisory group to guide the development of solutions.


The role will see you with primary responsibility of:
Developing and implementing educational approaches and materials that increase uptake of data management and data governance best practice as defined by the Data Office
Growing strong collaborative relationships with campus-wide educational initiatives and education leads
Managing a portfolio of projects, providing a clear framework to identify and prioritise project implementation and development opportunities
Leading and participating in advisory, steering groups and committees as required
Negotiating and managing stakeholder expectations in relation to project delivery (time/resources/cost implications/risks)


About you:

Tertiary qualification in education/training
Demonstrated independent judgement, initiative and influencing skills
Expertise in the development of education solutions and materials
Experience in the implementation of education solutions and materials
Exposure to data management and/or research and/or health care Sound operational and planning and experience (Desirable)
Sound operational and planning and experience
