The Role
The
Finance
Officer role will support the Information Assurance (IA) team located in Canberra and provide a wide range of finance support capabilities.
The
Finance Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex financial management work within an integrated workforce.
They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
The role includes the requirement to manage the monthly project broadsheet financial reviews, raising and amending purchase orders, confirming goods receipt and arranging payment of invoices, and provide regular reporting for senior executives.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to:
- Credit and Defence Travel Card accounting
- Raising of Purchase orders through Defence purchase systems
- Drafting Section 23 Delegate approval submissions
- Supporting monthly financial reconciliation of sustainment and Operational Budgets
- Assisting with Objective filing of financial transactions
- Assisting with drafting of Overseas Visit Authority (OVA) financial input
- Assisting of draft correspondence of financial risk to populate Predict (Risk register)
- The ability to conduct routine filling of Correspondence within the Defence Records Management Systems
- The ability to conduct prioritization of tasking and assist in overflow work from staff within the business cell
- The ability to understand and/or learn Defence finance systems and doctrine in accordance with the Accountable Authority Instructions (AAI) and relevant Defence Finance Policy documents
Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

Current NV1 (mandatory)

A degree in Accounting/Finance or similar

Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
- Prior experience within CASG/ASD/ADF or Defence.
- Experience with the full suite of SAP finance management systems (SAP, Roman, Boris).
- Experience with managing System Project Office budgets, including acquisition, sustainment and operating budgets, or the experience in managing large scale project budgets.
- Experience with Objective
