The Financial Services and Support team in the Customer Experience Hub are seeking a Finance Services Officer.

The position will require you to be on-site at our Waterfront Campus in Geelong 2-3 day per week and there is flexibility to work from home as agreed.


The Finance Services Officer will be part of a collaborative, customer-focused team and will provide a professional and efficient level of service.

The role entails data entry into WorkDay to process the purchasing requests across the university, processing overseas student health cover requests, payment reconciliations and queries, as well as the creation and maintenance of supplier master data.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Day to day purchasing processing for faculties and portfolios, including triaging of workflow, raising purchase orders, supplier invoice requests, and ad hoc payments to ensure achievement of operational objectives
  • Gaining and building an understanding of finance processes across a wide range of functional areas, purchasing practice and multiple systems
  • Clarifying expectations and responding promptly to client requests, queries, or complaints to ensure client needs are met to agreed standards and timelines
  • Consulting with available sources to gather relevant information and seeking the expertise and advice of other people as appropriate
  • Understanding local processes, preparing standard documents, managing records, regularly tracking progress of work tasks and identifying key issues
  • Delivering effective and efficient outcomes and outputs against team and operational objectives
  • Building productive relationships with a diverse range of existing stakeholders and actively seeking to maintain positive relationships
  • Presenting information in a clear, structured, concise and tailored way by focusing on key messages and check that messages are understood and meet audience needs

To be successful, you'll have:


  • Certificate III in Business or a tertiary qualification in accounting or similar field; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant skills, relevant work experience and/or education/training
  • Knowledge of a finance service area e.g. Accounts payable, accounts receivable, debt collection, purchasing
