An exciting, unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to be part of a high performing legal team in Office of the General Counsel as Legal Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) navigates legal and policy challenges with technically outstanding legal advice and practical, evidence-based solutions.

As the Legal Adviser you will provide strategic, risk-based and high quality legal advice and in-house counsel on a broad spectrum of corporate legal matters and commercial issues affecting the Department, including contractual, intellectual property and employment issues.

You will also offer advice and support to the Premier and other DPC Ministers on corporate-related issues.

In this pivotal role you will join a dynamic team of lawyers and possess strong technical, analytical and conceptual skills.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience providing technically excellent, strategicallyfocused and practical legal advice on complex legal issues, including private and/or inhouse legal experience in commercial contracting and/or government procurement.
  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills, strong initiative and problem solving ability to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to develop and present material on complex matters to a wide audience.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and negotiation skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deliver results based on incomplete or ambiguous information under pressure in a fastpaced environment.
