Our client, a privately owned WA based Mining Contractor, is seeking an Experienced

Payroll Officer to join their Perth-based team. Since establishment, our client has evolved from equipment rental to become a key player in the Maintenance, Contract Mining, and Drill and Blast Divisions within the mining industry.

This role is a permanent

_ Monday-Friday_ position based in

Welshpool, Perth.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Execute endtoend processing of fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles for a large workforce consisting of award employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in the HR system, ensuring compliance with awards, employment contracts, and enterprise agreements.
  • Support monthend payroll reporting and endoffinancialyear processes.
  • Monitor and handle employee leave requests efficiently.
  • Handle various payroll calculations such as terminations, redundancies, entitlements, and deductions, and complete all necessary compliance documentation.
  • Administer employee membership in superannuation funds, including collecting relevant data on commencement dates, termination dates, and salary details.
  • Conduct systematic audits to review employee entitlements, such as leave credits, accruals, and superannuation, ensuring accurate information in the system.
  • Address payroll queries from employees in a professional, prompt, and efficient manner.
  • Reconcile annual PAYG withholding reported to the ATO with fortnightly reports via STP.
  • Stay uptodate with federal, state, and local legislation, and ensure compliance by studying existing and new regulations, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of payroll practices, including ATO, Super, and Industrial Legislation, among others.

Skills and Experience:


  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mining/FIFO payroll within the mining sector (essential).
  • Possession of a Payroll Administrator Certificate (essential).
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong numeracy skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication abilities.
