Job Summary:

Due to significant growth in our project delivery portfolio Powerlink currently has multiple career opportunities for experienced Spatial Specialists.

In these specialists roles you will be:

  • using your experience in mapping, analytic and visualisation skills
- implement, maintain and embed spatial data and
- providing information governance within the business whilst working within the Spatial & Delivery Analytics team.


About the roles:


Working in a team of multiple spatial specialists you will develop and deliver solutions for your internal customer base to support business activities.


There are several specialisations:

Spatial Specialist - Mapping


You will use FME to transform and analyse complex data, and develop ESRI maps and Portals that support end users in the business to make data driven decisions.


Spatial Specialist - Governance
You will focus primarily on data and information governance through the coordination of the Spatial & Surveying technical Specification. Liaising and negotiating with projects and business units to ensure Powerlink maximises its spatial potential.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop business requirements
  • Extract, transform and analyse data
  • Create ESRI ArcMaps and ESRI Portals utilizing good visual design principles, enabling the business to utilise spatial information
  • Produce business centric reports that convey complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Report on information/data related risks, issues, solutions and controls.
  • Recommend changes to make business processes more efficient.
  • Governance: Coordinate the Spatial & Surveying Technical Specification.
  • Governance: Coordinate spatial governance for data and information as well as systems.
  • Your role plays a part in helping to connect Queenslanders to a worldclass energy future._

About you:

You have a formal qualification in Geographical information systems, Cartography, Spatial Information Science or an equivalent discipline.

Ideally you have relevant post graduate qualifications and experience with FME and ESRI suite of products (or similar tools) and Governance practices.
