Parks Victoria is looking for a Cultural Landscape Advisor assists the organisation in its commitment to managing healthy cultural landscapes in partnership with Traditional Owners.
- this role forms part of a strong and supportive team that is leading Parks Victoria's evolving approach to working with Traditional Owners.
About the role
This position will assist the organisation in its commitment to managing healthy cultural landscapes in partnership with Traditional Owners.
This includes providing line management to a small team, supporting the delivery of Girtgan Kurtba Ngulmbiu Gway-un (Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Plan) and two linked action plans, and providing advice across the organisation on how to implement the principles of the Managing Country Together framework, especially the commitment to increase the emphasis on better understanding, protecting, and managing Aboriginal cultural values.
Success in this role will ultimately be reflected in Parks Victoria's performance in relation to its compliance obligations under the _Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic)_, its progress towards a cultural landscape approach to planning and programming, and the strength and functionality of its relationships with Traditional Owner groups.
We're looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills ability to manage staff, develop and monitor work programs, and align priorities and resources to achieve corporate objectives
- Demonstrated practical experience with Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation, governance and policies in Victoria, and extensive background in the field of Aboriginal cultural heritage protection and Traditional Owner engagement
- Demonstrated experience in engagement and relationship building with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal persons; Registered Aboriginal Parties and/or other corporate bodies
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative, sensitive, and practical solutions to complex issues
