As a vital member of the Regional Field Operating team, you'll lead a team of five Operating Depot Supervisors, overseeing the management of operational budgets and providing strategic guidance in financial management and cost control initiatives.

Your new role


Reporting to the Head of Operating & Emergency Response, you will be responsible for the consistent delivery of the dedicated field operating function of the Northern region as well as provide direction and support to field operating staff in the management of vehicles, PPE, training, tools, and test equipment.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Drive improvements in safety performance by emphasising the acceptance of personal and management accountability for safety.
  • Manage Field Operating activities in the region's supply system in all environments.
  • Organise and allocate staff and resources to meet work schedules and budget, planning work schedules to meet company and customer requirements. Ensure that plans and rosters are in place to provide services on a 24/7 basis.
  • Review and endorsement of network switching competencybased workplace training and assessments as required for authorisation in accordance with the Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Support the training, authorisation, and Verification of Competency (VOC) tasks for operating authorities required within the business unit.
  • Coordinate information on consistent, safe operating practices, tools and processes for all equipment that can be operated on the Ausgrid network.
  • Provide high quality leadership and management of the field operating function, developing, and implementing commercially focused customer service standards, continuously improving and implementing strategies and processes that ensure excellent delivery of service.
  • Provide access to the Ausgrid network, for both internal and external service providers, to enable routine and emergency work to be safely carried out on the network.
  • Organise adequate resources for timely response to breakdown and emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with Operating Standards and Training to deliver the training program for the development of Trainee District Operators and ensuring adequate mentoring and local supervision.

  • Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or higher qualification within the discipline (or equivalent); or
  • Hold or have held a Class 1 Operating Authority.
  • Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office and systems.
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Established interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Recognised analytical, problem solving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Highly evident communication skills both written and oral with a customer focus for service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Proven high attention to detail, personal initiative, and accuracy in date entry.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of confidentially and discretion when dealing with sensitive or personal matters.
