About the role


As a member of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network Diabetes Education Service, the Nurse Consultant - Diabetes provides expert clinical diabetes nursing care, diabetes self-management education and support across the continuum of care for patients with diabetes.


Clinical leadership and education is provided to nurses within the Diabetes Education Service to ensure delivery of patient centred, high quality diabetes self-management education and support by the service, and within CALHN by direct consultation and through development of policy, resources and staff education to facilitate improved outcomes in care delivery.


The Nurse Consultant - Diabetes is an expert in diabetes education and care and has a significant degree of autonomy and decision making while working in and with health care teams and services.

The Nurse Consultant

  • Diabetes works collaboratively, within the multidisciplinary team both within the Diabetes Education Service, and with other interdependent clinical services.


Within the Diabetes Education Service the Nurse Consultant -Diabetes will articulate and provide role modelling for changing patterns of care delivery and evolving interdisciplinary Models of Care consistent with contemporary models of excellence.


The Nurse Consultant - Diabetes accepts accountability for their nursing practice, the outcomes of nursing practices for patients with diabetes, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.


Qualifications


Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

Essential Requirements:


  • Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
  • Working with Children Check
