The Role


headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation and provides support to young people aged experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health concerns.

The multidisciplinary team at headspace Port Adelaide provide free services to work to improve health, social, vocational, alcohol and other drug, and educational outcomes for young people.

Centacare is the lead agency of headspace Port Adelaide.


Working in a multidisciplinary team, the Youth Mental Health Clinician will provide psychosocial assessment, suicide risk assessment and management, and evidence-based mental health interventions to young people with mild to moderate or emerging mental health concerns to improve youth mental health and wellbeing outcomes.

This position is funded on a fixed-term opportunity until 30 June 2025.

What you need to bring

Essential

  • A Psychologist who holds general registration or who has an area of practice endorsement
-
OR a Social Worker who has membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is certified by AASW as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
-
OR an Occupational Therapist with Better Access to Mental Health (BAMH) endorsement
-
OR a Registered Nurse with additional qualifications in mental health
-
OR be eligible for the above and commit to achieving the appropriate accreditation/registration/endorsement within the first 12 weeks of employment

  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check. (previously known as 'Child-Related Employment Screening Clearance')
  • Proven experience working with young people aged 1225 and their family and friends
  • Proven experience in working with people experiencing mental health and other
wellbeing concerns

  • Proven experience in utilising psychological interventions such as cognitive behavioural therapy and other evidencebased mental health interventions

Desirable

  • Experience using electronic record client management system
  • An understanding of the youth mental health sector in Adelaide
