About the Role

This role will act as a Lending Specialist in the Customer Remediation Unit, accountable for facilitating and executing a solution for accounts relating to deceased estates across all brands.


Working within a framework to identify the most appropriate course of action for resolution for all lending accounts deemed high risk by either implementing proposed solutions tool kit or where possible current embedded procedures to close, refinance or restructure lending.

The role involves direct customer contact often in difficult times, it requires a strong balance of customer service and ability to effectively negotiate whilst showing a high degree of empathy and professionalism.

This role includes engaging with various stakeholders and teams across the BOQ Group.


Key Accountabilities will include:

  • Review lending file and discuss with Executor/Next of Kin plan to refinance/restructure/close Loan in accordance with current processes/procedures where possible or implement plan in accordance with proposed treatment plan guidelines
  • Make sound decisions and recommendations based on appropriate assessment of the customer's ability to pay and willingness to cooperate
  • Engagement with internal stakeholders regarding the lending file, customer communication and proposed strategy.
  • Implementation of facility restructures in accordance with the remediation framework and the bank's existing lending policies and procedures.
  • Identify and minimise potential losses via effective action
  • All highrisk lending accounts to be finalised within 812month period
  • Maintain a strong documentation process for audit purposes
  • All decisions, approvals, and documentation to be documented and filed in a shared drive for access

About you

  • 5 years of Banking experience in the Lending environment dealing directly with Credit, Legal and Product on complex transactions
  • This skill set may be suitable to experienced lenders or those with experience in Credit Risk, Asset Management Group and Collections.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements, specifically NCCP and Responsible Lending.
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to process administrative tasks autonomously and in a timely manner.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate whilst showing a high degree of empathy and professionalism.
