Are you an experienced Allied Health Professional looking to take the challenge and/or next step in your career?


The Department for Child Protection is currently seeking a
Supervisor to join the Carer Approval and Review Unit (CARU), to promote quality outcomes in compliance with the provisions of the _Family and Community Services Act 1972_ and the _Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017_.


The role is responsible for:

  • Providing leadership, development and performance of a designated work team and promoting professional practice by enabling culturally inclusive and holistic intervention methodologies
  • Developing and facilitating strategies to build positive working relationships and maintain a cohesive team to deliver sound and appropriate carer approval decisions.
  • Exercising analytical and professional judgement and ensuring quality assurance standards are applied through carer assessment processes.
  • Ensuring that assessment frameworks and evidence based research is used to develop and implement relevant, inclusive and accessible services to client groups.
  • Overseeing and monitoring of CARU, Ministerial and other associated documentation and briefings.

About You


We are looking for a motivated leader with experience in providing sound and practical advice on social work matters and support and guidance to team members.

You will have experience in providing professional and culturally appropriate practice leadership with an ability to address unsatisfactory performance and develop performance plans which assist in strengthening employee's skills and performance.


You will have proven experience in supervising a team, managing and prioritising workloads, conflict resolution and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a range of key stakeholders.

You will have experience in providing concise and comprehensive written and verbal documents and briefings.

Special Conditions

For those employees classified at AHP

Essential:

A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.


For those employees classified at PO

PO Essential:
Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
