Overview:

Sugar Research Australia (SRA) is Australia's specialist sugarcane research organisation.

We invest in evidence-based research, development and adoption (RD&A) activities on behalf of sugarcane growers and millers to meet industry challenges and opportunities.

We are looking for a Field Technician Agricultural Technician) to join the team In this role, you will be provide field operations support to plant pathology, biosecurity, disease screening and applied research activity in support of scientific experimentation and a high level of uniformity and consistency are required to ensure accurate and meaningful trial results.

This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week from our Brisbane office, with your duties extending to amongst others our primary site in Burdekin, QLD.

Main tasks

• Providing field operations support to various research activities.
• Maintaining records of field operation activity including BMP requirements.
• Contributing to planting, sampling, and harvest operations as part of a larger Variety Development team
• Actively supporting SRA's cultural transformation to being a safe place to work and one of continual learning and commercially outcome focussed organisation.

• Contributing to the continuous improvement of HSE protocols and practices with active engagement in established procedures.
• Periodic supervision of casual staff.
• Other duties as required.

Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience

• Minimum of a Diploma or at least three years of relevant experience.
• ACDC chemical certification (desirable).

Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to conduct physical work in very hot and humid environments.
• Previous experience working within sugarcane or other crop industries.
• Experience operating agricultural machinery.
• Ability to independently work safely and accurately following instruction or standard operating procedures.
• Reliable and professional work ethic.
• A current manual driver's licence is required to drive SRA vehicles.

Annual salary will be between $70,000.00 to $80, plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
