About the Role


The Property Officer will manage SSI On-Arrival Accommodation (OAA) portfolio at Sydney and regional settlement locations including sourcing new properties, arrange for lease agreements, conduct OAA routine inspections and facilitate R&M, follow up R&M requests, issue keys to clients for new OAAs, manage occupancy database, prepare/monitor monthly rental payments, return properties to the market, support SSI regional staff and ensure setup/ dismantling of OAA in accordance with the agreed timelines.

The role involves travel including driving to different locations and walking/accompanying clients to various appointments.

You will be a driven and energetic professional with strong verbal and written communication skills.

You are unquestionably a people person with exceptional interpersonal skills which assist you to build and maintain strong relationships with your internal & external stakeholders.

OAA Source & Setup

  • Facilitate property setup prior to client arrival and adhere to quality assurance practices.
  • Establish records on property system, rental payments, condition reports, BHG and other information related to the OAA portfolio in Sydney and regional areas.
Pre-client arrival

  • Liaise with Team Leaders and Housing Intake for OAA allocations.
  • Ensure properties are vacant and clean prior to clients arrival.
OAA Audit and Upkeep

  • Ensure most up to date condition reports are available online.
  • Perform periodic tenancy inspections and audit property to ensure standards are maintained and WHS risks are mitigated
Data management and reporting

  • Monitor centralised property inbox and communicate with realestate agents and stakeholders
  • Update database, maintenance registry, property records.
  • Maintain property inventory/ occupancy status on housing internal system (Chintaro), provide regular updates to Housing Support Team Leader and management
Repair & Maintenance Requests

  • Report issues to real estate agents/ landlords in writing and verbally, communicate any progress/ delays to relevant stakeholders.
  • Follow up and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Monitor regular repair, maintenance and lawn care schedules.
Essential Criteria

  • Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Case Management and/or equivalent Property/Realestate qualification or experience
  • Excellent time management skills and experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a dynamic team
  • Negotiating strategy, techniques and skills
  • Working with culturally & linguistically diverse communities
  • Working level of written and spoken English skills
  • Community housing/ realestate experience. Knowledge of the Residential and Tenancies Act 2010 is DESIRABLE
  • Additional language skills is highly DESIRABLE
