Who you are:


  • An experienced First Nations academic with a passion for environmental knowledge, issues and practices, particularly Indigenous land and water management, fire management practices, ecology and conservation, sustainable wildlife utilisation, caring for Country, and kinship;
  • A drive to incorporate First Nations environmental perspectives and knowledge into our teaching and pedagogy in the newly established Bachelor of Environmental Science, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs; and
  • An excellent communicator with a demonstrated capacity to develop effective and productive relationships with local First Nations groups including Traditional Owners, Elders and respected community organisations and stakeholders to facilitate educational and research outcomes.

What you'll do:

Reporting to the Head of School (Agriculture and Environmental Science), you will:

  • Contribute to the administration, preparation and delivery of study materials, seminars, tutorials, and workshops within the area of environment and sustainability (including First Nations environmental perspectives and knowledge, water science, applied ecology, and sustainable resource use or closely related areas).
  • Develop quality assessments in line with UniSQ's assessment procedures and contribute to the marking of written and practical assessments; and
  • Supervise honours students or postgraduate students in both course work and research projects.

In addition, you will:

  • Possess a relevant undergraduate qualification, preferred with honours (Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts) for the Associate Lecturer position or doctoral qualification (or higher degree with equivalent experience) for the Lecturer position.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and deliver high quality teaching of environmental science and sustainability courses to students with diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform high quality research in an area relevant to the School's research profile or, if employed in the Associate Lecturer position, capacity to undertake studies leading to Masters or PhD qualification.

Level A - Total remuneration range $84,683 to $113,606 pa (includes salary range of $71,553 to $95,991 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)

Level B - Total remuneration range $119,401 to $141,128 pa (includes salary range of $100,888 to $119,246 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
