Salary:
$72,690 to $97,980 per annum (based on 35 hrs pw), plus superannuation and a 9-day fortnight

In your new temporary role, you will be involved in exciting strategic planning projects within the Hornsby local government area.


About us
Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD.

Known as the 'Bushland Shire', our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape.

The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.


About the role


In your new temporary role you will provide strategic town planning advice to Council to determine the manner in which land is used to enhance the social, economic, environmental and recreational well being of the community.

The position services Council's constituent and external customers.

This role has 3 major components;

  • Prepare environmental planning studies, planning instruments, development control plans, codes and policies
  • Sign Planning Certificates prepared in accordance with Section 10.7 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979

About you


We are seeking a pro-active, enthusiastic person who has the ability to undertake allocated tasks within the Strategic Planning Branch.

An understanding of strategic planning principles and relevant legislation is required in implementing Council's Strategic Planning Program.


A commitment to good quality customer service and consultation with government authorities, applicants and the public is required to ensure that Council meets the needs and expectations of the community.

The ability to work independently and within a team environment is critical to the success of this role.


Applicants should have completed a Town Planning Degree and have an interest in land use planning, understanding of environmental planning and Local Government legislation and good written and oral communication skills.
