An exciting oppporunity for a Project Officer to join the Victorian School Building Authority in our Facilities Branch within the School Cleaning Unit.

Reporting to the Operations Manager of the School Cleaning Unit and as a member of the team, you will be part of a high-performing and supportive team providing high-quality information, reporting and project delivery activities; including presentations and briefings on the performance of cleaning services for all Victorian government schools to senior executives, the Minister for Education, school cleaning service providers and peak bodies.

As the Project Officer, this position requires a proactive self-starter with a good understanding of government processes and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast-paced environment.


Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • maintaining the integrity of the databases with excellent attention to detail in data entry.
- contributing to providing high-quality service delivery to ensure implementation of policy and processes related to the department's School Cleaning Reform.
- contributing to the development of communications collateral and supporting resources, including policy documents, fact sheets, standard operating procedures and FAQs for all Victorian Schools, cleaning service providers and the business unit.
- promote and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regional offices, schools and service providers, whilst coordinating and managing responses to stakeholder enquiries.
- respond to requests for information from the Minister's Office and Executive team of the Authority, including the development of reporting documentation, briefings, correspondence and parliamentary collateral.
- provide administrative support for the Unit, including scheduling meetings and preparing meeting agendas and minutes
- support the business unit in other ways as required, including managing the day-to-day implementation of the program of work.
- provide administration and support business unit.
- a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- the ability to fulfill the requirements under the Victorian Public Health Direction.
- intermediate proficiency in excel is preferred.
- high-level written communication skills.
- demonstrated policy skills including analysing and critically evaluating information and the potential implications and risks associated with proposed policy options is preferred.
- sound conceptual and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to synthesise information from various sources and events, including from outside own areas of responsibility.
- demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working under pressure.

This position is based at 33 St Andrew Place, East Melbourne. Hybrid working arrangements are available, but regular office attendance is required. It is a fixed term position to 30/6/2026.
