Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage in a Fulltime APS4 Finance Officer for a 12 month assignment with potential extension in GEELONG & RICHMOND VIC.

The APS4 Finance Officer position will provide operational and administrative support that is informed and directed by sound knowledge in areas and may undertake some research and analysis activities. The APS4 Finance Officer may have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex enquiries.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating transaction processing in the systems to ensure financial data is accurate and complete.
  • Extracting and analysing data from SAP and other financial systems to resolve enquiries.
  • Preparing accurate and timely management reports as required.
  • Providing input into the development of Standard Operating Procedures for the team, including process mapping requirements.
  • Working with key stakeholders to support various project initiatives.

Essential skills required for role/s:


  • Relevant tertiary degree with subsequent onthejob experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of financial management systems (for example SAP, Oracle).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyse financial data and develop into concise and meaningful reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to show good judgment, initiative and undertake tasks independently, seeking advice and escalating as required.
  • Demonstrated excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability working in a team.

Desirable skills to have for the role:

  • Experience in federal government and/or a large complex organisation.
  • Experience in SAP.

About the Team

The Financial Control Branch is responsible for the financial management of the Agency and Scheme, and provides insightful financial reporting to enable strategic decision making.

Key accountabilities include producing audited annual financial statements, the Annual Report, budgets, monthly financial reports and forecasts.


The branch manages the maintenance and development of finance systems, analysing financial performance, and providing financial advice to support decision making and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

It provides financial reports and advice to support the business manage its group, division and branch level budgets.


About the Role

The APS4 Finance Officer is accountable under general direction to undertake moderately complex finance related activities and tasks within established procedures and guidance.


The position will provide operational and administrative support that is informed and directed by sound knowledge in areas and may undertake some research and analysis activities.


The APS4 Finance Officer may have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex enquiries.
