About the role


DP World Australia has a exciting opportunity for a experienced and enthusiastic professional to join our commercial team in a senior role.

Reporting the CCO - Ports & Terminals, the GM - Customer Centre is responsible for the management and effective operations of the DP World Customer Centre.

Including the ability to provide a senior client entry point for operational issues and problems and to provide customers an entry point for any container damage claims against DP World Australia.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the central planning service for both the terminals and external customers
  • Coordinate scheduling of all ships and allocation of berths in conjunction with shipping lines and terminals, taking in to account length, depth, equipment, handling capacity and service facilities.
  • Negotiate with shipping lines and terminals so that Port is used as effectively as possible whilst ensuring customer delivery as per the contract
  • Effectively collate and process any claims against DP World for container damage.
  • Provide statistics and feedback to management of operational productivity of berths.
  • Review and report effectiveness of terminals to corporate level.
  • Ongoing evaluation of congestion and costs
  • Responsible for receiving and dealing with terminal errors and ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction
  • Ongoing monitoring of increasing demand, time to move equipment through enhancements of machinery and resources.
  • Port throughput capability, given assets and resources

Experience, Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in the role you will have a background in the shipping and container terminals industry. You will be a skilled influencer and stakeholder manager who has a passion for achieving business outcomes.

You thrive on working in a fast-paced environment and will bring strong leadership skills in addition to a structured, organised, analytical approach to how you operate.

To achieve success in this role, you will have following skills & experience:


  • Appropriate degree or significant industry experience (10 years +)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the shipping and container terminals industry.
  • Detailed understanding of shipping industry and container terminals industry.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to deal with people at varying levels.
  • Intuitive negotiator.
  • Empathetic.
  • Assertive whilst remaining strongly customer focused.
  • Advanced accounting and statistics skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
