THE OPPORTUNITY


An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced workshop manager with outstanding leadership and people management skills to join the Sands team.

Reporting to the managing director, working out of our Forrestfield depot the role of the Group Fleet Maintenance Manager is to oversee and manage the organisations fleet maintenance system and structure as well as the management and control of all maintenance activities associated with on highway equipment from HR, MC Trucks, Refrigerated Pans trailers and associate trailing equipment.

Your goal is to ensure that the fleet availability targets are met within budget and all equipment is maintained to the highest standard and adhere to all compliance/ company policies and relevant legislation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading and managing a team that fosters a safe, productive, and positive work environment that delivers results.
  • Coordinating rosters, work allocation, addressing underperformance and disciplinary matters.
  • Managing workshop expenditure and administrative functions.
  • Monitoring results that meet agreed KPI's.
  • Reporting to the board on workshop metrics and performance KPI's
  • Ensuring the workshop is compliant with safety standards and all safety systems are adhered to.
  • Vehicle breakdown response time and effectiveness
  • Management of the service levels and performance of all contracted Repair & Maintenance service providers.
  • Implement vehicle management best practices in line with company policies and procedure and legislation.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL POSSESS:

  • Minimum 5 years' demonstrated experience in managing a large fleet workshop.
  • Outstanding leadership and people management skills and experience.
  • Ability to motivate, plan, prioritise and lead the workshop team.
  • Extensive prime mover and trailer knowledge and management of maintenance, servicing and repairs of the fleet and trailing equipment.
  • Trade Qualification Certificate in Diesel Mechanics preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organisational and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Possess a flexible and adaptable attitude.
  • Strong commitment to all safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
